current exhibitions at MOPA
The current exhibitions at MOPA (The Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, http://www.mopa.org/index.htm) have some very classical works by the masters like Edward Weston, Minor White and Ansel Adams. I liked the exhibition Seeing Beauty particularly. Edward Weston’s female nude is very beautiful, whose posture is so elegant and natural. In the photo you can even feel his intension to his model (in this case she was his lover/wife Charis Wilson). Bill Brandt’s distorted view of female bodies is very different to Edward Weston’s classical ones. They are abstract and provocative. The new generations (I mean anyone which is still alive and shots color photos) like Judith Fox and Mona Kuhn are worth to pay special attention too.
